Proof of residency

• Your proof of residency must be dated within the last three months.
• Your proof of residency should be within the same name and address as you allow application.
• Copies of council tax bills, utility bills, bank or credit card statements or wage slips are accepted.
• Tenancy agreements will not be allowed.
• The proof provided must determine your name, address and the date it was published.

Proof of vehicle ownership

• If you are the registered keeper of the vehicle you must give a copy of your vehicle registration document (logbook) displaying your name and address and one proof of residency. These documents should be within the same name and address as you allow application.
• For corporation vehicles, you must give a company letter on official headed paper, which proves that you will be using this vehicle along with a copy of proof of residency as planned above. The corporation letter must declare your name, address, vehicle registration, make and model and prove that you are an employee.
• If you have use of the vehicle but are not the owner of the vehicle you will need to present the following; a copy of the full vehicle registration document (logbook), a copy of the motor insurance document showing you as a named driver, a copy of a proof of residency as outlined above and a covering letter explaining why you require a permit for a vehicle you do not hold.

• If you have the vehicle but it is not registered at the permit address you will require to give the following; a copy of the full vehicle registration document (log book), copies of three different proofs of address as described above, and a covering letter explaining why you need a permit for a vehicle that is not registered at the same address as the permit. This is only for candidates with two features, not for applicants who are late in submitting their V5C document to the DVLA.
• If you have use of a rented vehicle you will need to give a copy of the hire/lease agreement which must be adequate for a least of 6 months and a copy of evidence of residency as outlined above. The Agreement must declare the vehicle registration number, your name, and the permit address.
• If you are a Blue Badge holder, a resident’s permit can be published to you free of charge if you are the registered keeper of the vehicle. When applying for the permit you must give a copy of the front and back of the Blue Badge, along with a copy of the full vehicle registration document and a copy of proof of residency as outlined above. If you’re the parent of a blue badge holder underneath the age of eighteen and also the registered keeper of a vehicle you’ll be able to even have a permit issued to you free of charge.
• If the permit is for a mobility vehicle you must give a copy of the documentation issued to you by the Motability Company (Mobility Finance Agreement). This documentation must have the applicant’s name and address, along with the details of the vehicle and confirm that the vehicle has been hired for three years. You must also provide a copy of proof of residency as listed above.
• If it is a foreign vehicle you must provide a copy of the foreign V5C, three proofs of residency and a letter explaining why the permit is needed for a foreign vehicle. This will only be acknowledged if the foreign V5C contains the applicant’s name.
